Seventy-Two Months

My Little Guy is six today!  I cannot believe how fast (and slow) the past six years have gone by.  Bubs continues to amaze and challenge me.  He is strong willed, cuddly, silly, creative, stubborn, sensitive, opinionated, and very curious.  Noah loves kindergarten and has become quite the avid reader.  His current favorite books are Henry and Mudge and Froggy and, of course, anything with Super Heroes or Star Wars. Recently, he and Daddy began reading The Hobbit.  Noah follows along, every night, and loves to tell Daddy when he read a word wrong or when he needs to turn the page.  Bubs also loves math and has memorized all his math facts with sums to ten.  I am so very proud of my little intellectual.

The successes that Bubs has academically are balanced by the challenges he has physically.  Noah's latest audiology test showed slight hearing loss in his left ear and significant hearing loss in his right.  We are fortunate to be working with a great audiology team at Noah's school.  His AMAZING teacher wears a microphone that transmits directly to his BAHA so Noah can focus on her voice.

Noah has also had a string of illnesses including the flu, pneumonia, and ear infections.  These illnesses along with some severe constipation issues have lead to very little physical growth for my guy over the past two years.  Kc is working hard to tweak his blended diet and we will be meeting with a GI doctor to try and solve some of his "tummy troubles".  We are hoping this will lead to some growth.

Noah's current stats are:

Weight:  42 pounds
Height:  44 inches

Noah continues to be the most sensitive and tender big brother ever!

We've Got A Mover

I know I told you that I thought my Baby Girl would never crawl.  She absolutely HATED being on her tummy, after all.  I may have been a tad bit dramatic but I truly thought Ava had a L.O.N.G. way to go before she was mobile.  Well...I am sure this is not the last time Baby Girl will prove me wrong.  Stop the presses...but...we've got a mover!  All Ava needed was a little motivation.  Kc was working on the tile surrounding our fireplace and Ava desperately wanted a piece of that tile for herself.

(Can you believe how amazing our new fireplace is?  I am so very proud of my hubby!  From demolition to mantle building to drywall to cutting tile to grout...he did it all!)

Noah was so proud of his Little Sister.  He kept encouraging her which only made her work harder.  Don't you just love the little frog hop in the middle?
She worked so hard and was finally successful...she was able to grab a tile...and immediately put it in her mouth.  Ha!
Our world just got a bit more...well...complicated.

Mama

Ava has started saying, "Mama".  It just melts my heart every time I hear it!

Eight Months - Ava

My Little Miss is just getting so big!  She seems to be in the middle of a growth spurt because she is waking up at least four times every night to nurse (and let me tell you she sucks me dry) as well as nursing and eating several meals during the day.  She currently loves pasta, rice, Cheerios, beans, peas, carrots, corn, chicken, and tuna.  She has mastered the sippy cup and loves to drink juice.  She is not a fan, however, of fruit or any food that is pureed.

Miss Ava has gotten much more active as well.  She loves to sit on the floor surrounded by her toys.  She is reaching and grabbing things on high surfaces and has even pulled herself up to the coffee table to grab things out of reach.  Baby Girl has also decided that being on her tummy was not as bad as she previously thought and will kick her legs and wiggle her bum to try and grab things out of reach.  She also rolls all around and gets so mad when there is a piece of furniture or wall blocking her way.

Ava's current stats are:

Weight: 20 pounds 5 ounces
Height: 28 inches

I just love how Ava is holding onto her Big Brother Noah.  They absolutely love each other and get along so well.  Noah is very patient and gentle with Ava and she squeals and chirps whenever he is near.  It is just precious!

*Don't you just lurve the new cushions on our Z Chairs??? We recently recovered our sofa in a beautiful gray linen and our chairs in deep gray herringbone.  They turned out just perfect!!!
