Wow! Are you sure he didn't have an accomplice? Auntie Nessa was big on sporting things on her head. I have a picture somewhere of the "bowl" style that she also favored.
My mom used to have a sign posted on the game room door of the house that I grew up in. It read. "A creative mess is better than tidy idleness." I repeat that to myself quite a bit :-)
