Thirteen Months

Noah is a typical teenager. Now that he's hit the BIG thirteen {months, that is} he is sporting the at-ti-tude. Noah simply would not sit for a picture tonight {that's what babies do} and no matter how much Mama and Daddy-O jumped around he wouldn't smile for the camera {this is so lame}.
In fact, Noah even tried to run away from us {I don't have to sit here for this} and when I asked him to please sit down,
he turned his back on me {my parents are so not cool}.
His current stats are:

Weight: 25 pounds 5 ounces
Length: 31 inches

I think we're in for one wild ride {Hey Daddy-O, can I borrow the car?}.

200

I can't believe it! This is the 200th blog post! What started out as a way to share photos and stories of our impending bundle of joy with family members in the mid-west, has turned into...well...I'm not quite sure what.

It has been a while since we've posted any medical updates, so hear goes...

Plastic Surgery:

Noah had a CT done of his head that his plastic surgeon is using to determine if any additional steps need to be taken in the growth and development of his skull. The doctor also feels that surgery can and should be done to correct the partial webbing between his middle and ring fingers. We have an appointment in a few weeks, so we should get more info then.

Pulmonology:

All is clear!

Ear, Nose and Throat:

Noah had a scope of his trachea done in December. The doctor confirmed his trachea and vocal chords are still fused shut. The decannulation surgery to take Noah's trach out will be quite extensive and the doctor wants Noah to be as big and strong as possible. We have another scope planned for the summer time but are thinking that we will have at least another year and a half with the trach. Such a love/hate relationship we have with the trach - it allows our son to live, but it comes with a whole set of problems and issues.

Orthopedic:

The doctor is pleased with Noah's feet and is thinking that he will only have to wear the braces at night for a few more months. Once Noah is walking exclusively, and putting all his weight on his feet, that should be enough pressure to keep his feet in correct alignment. Yeah!

Ophthalmology:

The doctor is cautiously optimistic that Noah will have adequate site. Noah does have nystagmus (shaking) in his left eye, but it should not effect his vision too much. He now sees a vision therapist once a month who is helping him to focus on an object and move his eye to see rather than move his entire head.

Urology:

Noah has surgery scheduled over Spring Break to fix the strictures in his urethra. It should be a fairly easy procedure and we are not expected to have to spend the night in the hospital. Yeah!

Endocrinology:

Noah had a host of blood tests a few months ago to check his hormone levels. Everything came out clear accept for his growth hormone...it was actually a bit high. Nothing to worry too much about, according to the Dr. and Papa, but we're keeping an eye on it.

Gastroenterology:

Noah had an upper GI done a few weeks ago because he has been vomiting more and more each day and we were afraid that his fundoplication was coming loose. Fortunately, the fundo looks great, but they discovered a hiatal hernia. We're waiting to hear back from the pediatrician what the next steps are.

Physical Therapy:

Noah has two physical therapy appointments every week. He is doing amazingly well and has made significant growth over the past few months. He is army crawling all over the place {he can crawl on his knees, but chooses not to} and cruising around all furniture that he can. We're confident that he will take his first steps in a few weeks. Look out world...here he comes!

Occupational Therapy:

Noah has seen two occupational therapists in the past year to help with his feeding and fine motor skills. We have loved both therapists, but unfortunately, they have not been covered by our medical insurance. Noah's last therapist advised us to get his vomiting under control before we focus on feeding...so that's what we're attempting to do. As of now, Noah WILL NOT put anything in his mouth that he thinks is food - he is strictly G-Tube fed. I think his oral aversion will take quite a long time to conquer {if at all}.

Thank you all for following along with us on this amazing adventure. Your thoughts, comments, prayers, and support mean more to us than you could ever possibly know. You have carried us through some dark times and are now able to bask in this awesome light with us. Here's to two hundred more posts!

Pouty Face...still

Noah continues to have the cutest pouty face ever.
If you look real close, you can see my pouty face reflected in his glasses. Perhaps that's who he learned it from.

Walking...almost

Noah is almost walking. He totally gets the idea of traveling from Point A to Point B to get what he wants.

Hanging

Sometimes when you've got a cold, like Noah does, all you want to do is hang out and cuddle.
Other times, you just want to be tossed around and feel your tummy do flips. If you look closely, you can see Noah's glasses in the bottom left corner.

Valentine's Day Picnic

On Valentine's Day, Daddy planned a wonderful family picnic for Noah and I. The weather was fantastic {66 degrees in the middle of February} and apparently we were not the only ones in Fresno to want to spend some time outdoors. We went to four parks in the area but were unable to find a square foot to call our own. I am currently house-sitting for some family friends and we decided to use their backyard as our own personal park {thanks Jim and Nancy}.

After a lovely lunch and a bit of crawling on the grass, Kc got out his camera and we had a mini-photo shoot. He got some great photos of me and my little Stink Pot.
More photos will be posted later.

Great-Grandma

On Friday we bid a fond farewell to Great-Grandma Bartlett. She came out to sunny California from wintry Wisconsin in the middle of December and has spent two glorious months with Nana and Papa. She is on her way back home and will be greatly missed. Many family members from all over the west coast have traveled to Fresno to visit with Great-Grandma. It has been a blessing to spend time with an amazing 95 year-old woman who has so many life experiences and words of wisdom.

Noah loves his Great-Grandma Bartlett {especially her glasses} and will miss all the time he got to spend with her.

We love you Great-Grandma!

Pirate Party

Last Saturday, we celebrated Noah's first birthday with a pirate themed party. We were surrounded by family and close friends as we looked back on how far our little guy has come this past year. There were tattoos and crafts for the young and young at heart.Grandma and Grandpa Jackson drove down from Rocklin.Grams was there as the soul representative of the Quinn family.
Our friend Lizz made the cutest cupcakes ever!

There was a bounty of presents for Noah to explore {who knew paper and bows were SO much fun}.
And even a few scallywags to make the day more fun!All in all, it was a fantastic first birthday for my little buccaneer!

Protecting our Boarders

We have a kiddie door that keeps Sierra out of Noah's nursery. Every time Noah is playing, Sierra comes by to "keep an eye on things". I think she is secretly hoping Noah will invite her in to play.

Sitting Up

Noah has recently learned the tricky task of sitting up from a lying down position. He pushes himself up on one arm while swinging his leg around.I'm sitting! That's right! I'm sitting!
